___ Thian Fa Foundation

Thian Fa Foundation, Thien Fah Charity Foundation.

The Thian Fa Foundation was established 1902 by the co- operation of Chinese immigrants of five dialects.
It is the first foundation in Thailand that aims to giving treatment to deprived patients. The treatments are both, modern and traditional Chinese. Inside the foundation building is a shrine of Guan Yim, Phra Bodhisattva Awalokitesuan (Bodhisattva Avalokiteêvara) in the attitude of giving blessing. The believers of the Mahayana Buddhism pray respect to this Bodhisattva beside paying respect to Lord Buddha.
They believe that the Bodhisattvas have reached enlightenment but have not entered the land of buddhas because they want to help those who suffer first.
One of the most revered Bodhisattvas is Phra Awalokitesuan who is endowed with mercy. Among the Chinese she is known as Kuan Si Yim or Kuan Phu Sak, meaning who listens to the world.

This Guan Yim stature is carved from teak wood in the Thang Dynasty art style. It is assumed to be made in the Song Dynasty, approximately some 800- 900 years ago. It was than taken from China in 1958 to be established in the Thian Foundation Building as a revered object for people in general.
