About TianjinSatellite view is showing Tianjin, (T'ien-Ching, Tientsin), fifth largest 'city' in China, located along the Hai He River, 135 km (84 mi) southeast of Beijing and about 50 km (30 mi) west of the Bohai Gulf, the innermost gulf of the Yellow Sea (Pacific Ocean). Tianjin is one of the four municipalities that have provincial-level status, the highest level classificiation for cities with a status equal to that of a province. The municipality incorporates the coastal region of Tanggu which is the port for Tianjin and the state-level new area of Binhai. The urban agglomeration of Tianjin/Binhai and nearby rural aeas which constitutes the Tianjin district has a population of 10.4 million inhabitants (2011), almost 4 million live in the rural areas.
